Pricing & Insurance

We believe understanding the financial side of your care should be straightforward. Whether you plan to use insurance or pay privately, we want you to have clear information about your options before getting started.

Below, you’ll find details about insurance coverage, self-pay rates, payment policies, and other costs that may apply.

Insurance Plans We Accept

We are currently in network with Optum and United Healthcare and are continuing to contract with additional major insurance plans. We’ll update this page as new plans are added.

If your insurance is not listed, you may still have out-of-network benefits that can help cover the cost of care. Self-pay appointments are also available.

Self-Pay Rates

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

60–90 minutes

$450

Standard Follow-Up

25 minutes

$225

Extended Follow-Up

45–60 minutes

$350

Extended follow-up appointments may be recommended when more time is needed for complex concerns, significant treatment changes, or multiple issues.

Payment, including any applicable copay, is due at the time of service.

Using Insurance

If we are in network with your plan, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your individual benefits. This may include a copay, coinsurance, deductible, or charges for services that are not covered by your plan.

Insurance coverage can vary significantly, even between plans offered by the same company. We recommend confirming your benefits directly with your insurer before your first appointment.

Questions to ask when you call:
  • Is Claris Mental Health in network with my plan?
  • Is my specific provider in network?
  • Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
  • Are telehealth behavioral health services covered?
  • What is my copay or coinsurance?
  • Do I have a deductible?
  • If yes, how much of my deductible has been met?
  • Is prior authorization or a referral required to see my provider?
  • Are there any restrictions on psychiatric services?

We may verify your eligibility as a courtesy, but verification is not a guarantee of payment, and being in network doesn’t necessarily mean a visit will be fully covered. Patients are responsible for charges their plan doesn’t cover.

Out-of-Network Care

If we are not in network with your plan, or if you prefer not to use insurance, you may choose to pay at our self-pay rates.

Some insurance plans include out-of-network benefits that may reimburse a portion of your visit cost. Upon request, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan and are determined by your insurer.

Additional Fees

Forms, Letters & Documentation — $150

Routine paperwork that can reasonably be completed during a scheduled appointment generally doesn’t require an additional fee. Additional fees will apply for paperwork requiring significant provider time or records review, including FMLA, Paid Leave Oregon, disability documentation, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work forms. This documentation is completed for established patients only, at the provider’s clinical discretion.

Late Cancellation or No-Show — $150

For appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without notice. This fee is the patient’s responsibility and cannot be billed to insurance.

Information Regarding the No Surprises Act

The No Surprises Act took effect January 1, 2022. Our notice appears below. If you have questions about how it applies to your care at Claris Mental Health, please ask your provider or email hello@clarismentalhealth.com.

You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must give patients who don't have insurance, or who choose not to use insurance, an estimate of expected charges for medical items and services. This right applies to the total expected cost of any non-emergency care, including related costs such as medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and facility fees. If you schedule a service, your provider should give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day beforehand. You can also request an estimate from any provider before scheduling. Keep a copy or a photo of any estimate you receive. If you're billed at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. For questions or more information about this right, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Common Questions About Pricing and Insurance

How do I know whether my provider is in network with my specific plan?
Insurance networks can vary by plan, even within the same insurance company. We recommend contacting your insurer and confirming that both Claris Mental Health and your individual provider are in network with your specific plan.
Can I use an HSA or FSA to pay for appointments?
Generally, psychiatric services are eligible medical expenses for HSA and FSA funds, although we recommend checking the requirements of your specific account.
What happens if my insurance denies a claim?
If a claim is denied, we can review whether additional information or a corrected claim is appropriate. Ultimately, patients are responsible for charges that their insurance plan does not cover.
What if my insurance changes?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you have a new insurance plan or have changes to your existing coverage. Network participation and benefits can differ between plans, so updated information should be provided before your next appointment whenever possible.
Will I know exactly what my appointment will cost before the visit?
We can provide our self-pay rates and may be able to help verify your insurance benefits, but your insurance company determines how a claim is ultimately processed. Your final responsibility may depend on your deductible, copay, coinsurance, and the services provided.
